  2. Please help us stay on topic. Don’t be afraid to comment or ask questions about the implication of any section we are covering, but please remember that there are controversies outside the scope of our project that we don’t have time to cover.
  3. Every session let’s try to cover questions like:
    1. What is the context of this section?
    2. Why included at this point in the presentation?
    3. What are the major points Lucretius is making?
    4. What are the implications of these points?

  • How does this relate to meditation - is that a non-sensual experience. - are you accessing a matterless - non-physical realm?
  • Can we say that atoms have become self-aware?
  • At least two issues (1) Is it real (2) What is it?
  • Is “mechanistic” the same as “rational”?
  • Is there distrust of poetry in Epicurus? how does that relate to “the wise man feels his emotions more deeply than other men”?
